Long story short, my partner is in an extremely toxic work environment right now. The owner gets away with breaking several labor laws in our city because he keeps the staff small enough to do so. He unjustly fires people left and right, openly talks shit about them, etc. it’s just bad.
He works at a Pet Hotel, and is allowed to bring our one dog to work. He has epilepsy. He’s had to go to the hospital twice in the last 3 months to get his meds right (the seizures were terrifying), and of course my partners boss was a complete dick about it.
Well our boy had a couple small breakthroughs this morning that we were able to manage with emergency medication. We both work today, so unfortunately he had to go to work with my partner.
My partner sends me a text saying that he tried to tell his boss that if our dog starts having seizures again, he’s going to have to take him home.
His boss says “well you’re not authorized to leave the building today period, if he has seizures that’s not my problem”.
There’s a long list of issues with this place I want to report when my partner leaves, but if he were to get fired because our dog has a disability and needs medical attention, is he screwed or would he have a leg to stand on for unemployment reasons. He’s never been written up, doesn’t have any type of record. Goes in on his days off. He’s honestly one of the only people who hasn’t quit or gotten fired in the last 6 months because of what a monster this guy is.
