So, bit of backstory:
Work in a construction. Have a current DoL complaint/investigation for wage theft happening. I've also been quietly looking for another job, and finally found one, (which I start next week), so I've been kinda slacking off for the past 2 weeks.
I know my bosses are pissed, so is the company. They just didn't have shit on me to do anything with that didn't sound retaliatory.
Anyways, I called in today so I could still go to the doctors office whilst I still had insurance so I could make sure my prescriptions were good until insurance kicks in with the new job.
This exchange was via text (summarized).
Told my boss that I'd be out today with a medical situation.
He asked me to bring a doctor's note.
I replied that they don't usually ask for one if missing just a single day, and that policy says we need one only if missing 3 consecutive days or more.
Haven't gotten a response back from him yet.
Personally, I find this funny. It smells of them trying to find something to fire me on without looking like retaliation.
Still, with this exchange amd with an exchange I had with my division head a couple of weeks ago, I may just file an additional complaint of retaliation. Haven't quite decided yet.
