So my current job hired me a year ago at 22/hr. I've busted my ass and am finally in a great place where I'm comfortable with my duties and actually know other people in the office and at our different locations. I'm decently happy for the first year.
We just hired a new person in the same position as me to replace someone who retired. I am doing 99% of this persons training and he is somehow less experienced than I was when I first started a year ago. I come to find out they started him out at $28/hr
So all my effort with nothing to show for it and now I'm training a new person who's making significantly more than me.
I immediately started looking for another job when I learned this and got an interview within a week. The listing was for $30-$35/hr starting pay. The interview went very well and I actually just received a call with an offer for the job. The person who offered the job to me proceeds to tell me: “Well I know the listing was for 30-35 but you don't have quite the experience we were looking for so we'd like to basically create a new position for you and offer $26/hr.
Why the fuck do these people make listings with a specific range and then try to low ball you for an amount that wasn't even within the range THEY POSTED?? I'm enraged at the moment and basically told her I would have to consider and will get back with her tomorrow.
I don't even know what I'm going to say at this point but there is no way in HELL I'll accept a bullshit offer like that. if you wanted to pay less than 30-35 why would you post that amount? Find someone with more experience then and don't waste my time.
