Sorry if this doesn’t fit the sub, im fairly new here so I can delete this or it can be removed if it’s inappropriate, but I had a strange occurrence at work today that everyone I told agreed was shitty and weird:
For context, I work at a preschool, I’ve only been there for 3 weeks now, working on my 4th now. Kids get sick a lot and I have a compromised immune system, plus everyone told me I was going to get the “preschool sickness”.
RVS was spreading through my classroom, before it was being diagnosed I started feeling sick last Monday. By last Friday we had 3 kids diagnosed with it and 4 other showing the symptoms, and when I got home I realized I had a fever. Fever and illness peaks Saturday, Sunday I feel a lot better but still have a fever. Monday comes and I call off, but still have a fever so I called off for Tuesday and said I would see the doctor. Managed to get a same day appointment, tested for multiple illnesses, all came back negative and no fever yesterday so I returned back to work today.
When it comes time for my break my boss says “oh you were sick for 3 days? (It was only 2, unsure if they were confused or purposely over-exaggerating) You can take a half an hour.” We typically get a full hour, unless you want to leave early and there’s enough people that you can, but I’m considered a closer.
Any thoughts? It’s obviously not the end of the world, but I guess I’m just worried that this is my first red flag popping up. I feel like I’m already being punished for getting sick, I would’ve came in the days I called off but with a fever I didn’t want to infect any kids or my coworkers.
