So I recently finished my masters degree in a field that can garner up to 100k in yearly wages once I get all my certifications. Only thing is, no one told me that I’d need to literally wait 3+ months before I’m allowed to apply to get those certifications. So I’ve been waiting, living at home, staying home, for 3 months.
Deciding that’s dumb and I need cash I tried to apply to jobs a bachelors degree in the same field is qualified for.
But… I keep getting rejected because everyone says “once you get your license you’ll leave so no reason to train you and waste our time.” So I’m damned if I get a masters degree because then even a bachelors level won’t take me cause I’m overqualified and damned if I don’t because without a masters I’d make minimum wage.
Like…. What am I supposed to do? I went to school for 7 years so I can get calls from Macys for a 15$ pay rate? Why are there so many barriers ?? What possible reasoning is there for me to be forced to wait 3+ months before I can apply for my certifications and be able to get a job in my field?
Im so pissed off. Go to college and you’ll do well, they said. My parents never even had the option to go to college in the USSR. I finally get the chance to get a MASTERS and here I am looking at barista and retail associates jobs that pay less than half of what I should be making.
