Got an offer for a new gig. Current job has an inconsiderate boss who micromanages my travel time (can’t take a 11 am flight, I’m wasting company time, I have to travel as much as I can during non working hours). I’m at a Director responsibility level and own a multi million dollar IT budget, mind you.
In addition, they made me use vacation time to permanently relocate to our other site 11 hours away. Knows we’re short handed but is of the whole well I’m here until 8 pm mindset so it’s fine if you constantly work extra hours for now. Oh also your manager deadlines still exist and can’t move, even if you have to help with Help Desk tickets because we’re short handed.
Questions me working remote, even when my team is all on hybrid schedules except myself. Had to use vacation time to support my wife’s mastectomy, that I had to use my bonus to pay for because of their terrible benefits.
I’m debating just sending in a resignation letter this weekend and peacing out, I don’t foresee my boss being the type that would give a good reference even if I left on good terms.
Wanted the sub’s thoughts to see if I’m being an unprofessional asshole or not.
It’s not even a 24/7 business.
