Demoted because of a physical disability

I have been with my current employer for about four months now. I took the job even though they didn’t pay as well as I was used to because they only promote from within. I made it clear that I would only accept the job if I was on the fast track to moving up (I have tons of managerial experience). So I’m the time I’ve been there, I’ve been working 60 hour weeks and learning the ins and outs of the job. I’ve picked up every extra shift and gone above and beyond. I thought all was going well a few weeks ago when I was officially promoted. I was in the management position for about two weeks when I was informed that they would have to go in another direction. The sole reason for this being that I do not drive, due to a pretty severe visual impairment. This does not hinder my job performance in any way, I’ve never once been late to work and none of the job duties require me to drive anywhere. Even if they did, I made it known from the moment that I started that I didn’t drive and no one ever thought to tell me that it would be an issue. So now I’m incredibly embarrassed and stuck in a completely dead end job.
