Recently I have been job hunting. The past week I have been working on onboarding with a company and I was ok with the position and the pay was decent. They had to do a background check to continue the process. Anytime this isn't a problem I don't have any criminal background, and that's all I thought they would really be looking for because why would they need more than that? I wake up this morning to an email that I have been pulled from my training class next week because I failed the background check! I was in shock because I have never done anything that would make me fail…I thought. According to the next email they sent after I had been pulled it was because the background check showed my credit is terrible. My credit is terrible because I have so much debt from college and being in and out of hospitals for my health problems. It hurts because there is literally nothing I can do about my credit unless I have a better paying job but the job is locked behind credit? I have never had a job deny me because of my financial history and it feels so wrong. How normal is this? How can a company tell me I'm not a good fit or a good worker because my credit score is low? This all truly doesn't make any sense and I would like to scream. It just feels like they will put up as many hoops as they can to prevent you from filling the position they need filled but then say nobody is good enough for the position. Job hunting shouldn't be this taxing. Like sure everywhere is hiring but really no one is hiring.
