I was promised a pretty big promotion, going from $17/h to $50,000.
Despite me telling my boss I couldn’t believe it would happen, he reassured and promised me multiple times it was. All the paperwork was completed and approvals obtained, with one exception.
All increases over 5% need the Owner’s right hand man’s approval. Well he approved it but then said the owner should sign off too. The owner talks to the president about this, asking him if he was sure about me and if I fuck up it will be on him. This prompted the president to retract his approval.
I want to leave pretty badly but the job market is really shit.
What can/should I do?
I tried talking to the president about it and he lied to my face saying he didn’t know anything about it. I talked to my boss multiple times and he said all he can do is periodically give me 5% bumps.
