I’m about to get evicted and desperately need a job. I saw this small business I used to shop at down the street hiring and they asked me after the interview to come back the next day for a 2 hour unpaid “working interview.” Never heard of this and almost didn’t go but last minute decided to try. It was basically like they were training me and had me assist customers and try out the register on my own. And this is all for an entry level retail position.. After it was over and the supervisor said “they’d be in touch with me” I immediately knew I was gonna get ghosted. She said I did wonderfully and needed to check with the owner but I’d most likely get the job. But no I got ghosted. I expected this, just wondering how this can be legal?? I’m in california.
