I started a summer job because I work in a school.
My first week was the last week of the pay period and I only worked about four or five hours for re-training (I work here off and on a lot). Payday rolls around—no check.
I have a paystub and the payroll department insists the funds were deposited. They were not. I have not changed my bank account or anything since starting there a couple of years ago and have never had a problem before.
We start the tracking process. They start investigating their end, I do what I can. Two weeks later, still nothing, and no one knows why. The bank has no record of these funds being anywhere, payroll has record of the funds being deposited, and payday is approaching. I want to know wtf is going on because I don’t want to keep having this happen.
Today they figured it out! Um I netted fucking zero because the federal government took every penny of my first paycheck. I literally worked for nothing. And since it all went to just the feds, I have no idea how much I’m going to lose out of my next paycheck.
I’m not getting garnished, I don’t owe the IRS back taxes or anything. All I did was get married and pick up a second job again. Fucking great.
Obviously I will be double checking my elections and all the tax documents I filled out when I started but what the fuck is the point of working extra jobs to pay my bills and spending gas to get to work if I don’t even get anything.
I have had smaller paychecks than this one and still had a net of more than fucking zero.
