A few months ago I started in a new position at my job, with this change I was told I'd recieve a raise up to $16.50/hr. Being a dumb young adult I saw my paycheck go up and didn't think much of it… Until recently. I noticed some things were off with my finances and checked through my pay stubs to see I'd only been moved up to $15/hr. When brought up to my manager I was told that it was a mistake and I should be at 16.50 and the backpay is owed to me, I have also received an email of this statement (it's the only written proof I have of this mistake/promised pay). I'm looking to leave this job soon as I'm not dealing with people fucking with money like that, as well as other issues with management, but will I still be compensated for what they owe me? Is there anything I can do here? I'm also struggling with this as we're working on a large project and I don't want to screw over the 70yr old woman who is the only other person on our department.
