So taking a step back from my career in kitchens, Ive taken a job working at a grocery store- SaveonFoods. At the orientation I found out theyre unionized, which I didnt realize and kind of piqued my interest…
But then I read our collective agreement. Lol. As a member I have no power in the collective bargaining process and it is in our agreement that we cannot strike, stop work, or slow work down in the event of a grievance.
They offer some fine enough stuff like benefits etc… But how is this a union? I looked them up and it seems like they're known for a rat union that operates in bad faith towards their members, to benefit the rich and wealthy. Just another trap the rich force on us workers to make us feel like we have representation… When we really dont.
Kinda fucked. Im not gonna quit or anything- I am going to just operate within the strict parameters of my job. But the best part is I dont NEED this job. This thing is a huge step back for me… So that raises the question- What can I do to hurt these class traitor fuckers without immediately forfeiting my job?
Also side note- despite all this, and the low pay its somehow already better than any kitchen Ive ever worked in. And Ive worked all over the industry, fast food to as close to fine dining as it gets in this city. I feel like Im coming out of the sewer and complaining about a yard with too many dog turds on it. LOL. At least I get fucking breaks at the grocery store.
