I think you guys deserve respect I do
Your complaints are often trivial to those of us in construction or other blue collar jobs. Many of you have free coffee, food, beverages…things that reduce your overall expenses ( you may choose to buy your own food but others don't have the opportunity to make that decision). Your health is better because you work indoors, dry, warm/cool no fear of your work and pay being disturbed by the uncontrollable weather. For every fast food work post, there are 50 programmers complaining. Do I think you're getting a raw deal. Mostly. But you aren't demonized on TV, called unskilled or lazy.
If the grid collapsed tomorrow would programmers be useful or would a carpenter?
All workers require respect.
