So I started a new job in April. They had an “April challenge” that said, if a person had 0 call outs and made all their scheduled shifts, they would get a $50 Amazon card and be entered into a drawing for a $500 bonus.
I had a call out due to being injured in my first week (that’s a whole other story where I didn’t get workers comp), so I wasn’t really trying for it anyways.
First week of May and they’re going to announce the winner. One of the managers writers a long message in the general slack channel about how disappointed they were in the amount of call outs and that we all need to do better.
And then, her final message is along the lines of, “while some people improved, this challenge was for 100% perfect attendance, so being even 1 minute late disqualified you from even the gift card”.
Nowhere in their “April challenge” statement did they say they’d be monitoring punches down to the minute. Not once.
I wonder how many people made all their shifts, but may have clocked in 60 seconds “late” 🤔
Thought I was finally somewhere I didn’t absolutely hate cuz it’s working w dogs and I love dogs, but idk if I want to stick around somewhere that treats ONE MINUTE as punishable “tardiness”.
