I suppose that my post won't fit in with this community because generally speaking, I enjoy my job. There are a few drawbacks but I enjoy the work, I get along with my coworkers and my new manager is a much more level-headed individual.
With that said, there's a man that I will name Patrick. He may be a putz but it wouldn't be cool of me to identify him. I don't wish him harm or anything like that.
I would describe Patrick as a stoic fella that takes his duties way too seriously. To be fair, I'm not sure what his responsibilities are but he takes himself way too seriously and it makes him unlikable.
The other day, I was rolling some carts to the area where Patrick works. As I was walking in, he was talking to new employees when I set the carts in their place.
“Hey! You! Turn around!” Patrick says. “Me?” I say. “Did anybody else leave the carts in a place where they weren't needed?” He replies. “No but someone may need these carts at some point.” I reply, pointing to the carts. “Just get these carts out of here.” He tells me as he returns to talking to the new employees. I wasn't seeking confrontation at that time and so, I took the carts away but as I was walking away, I made a decision.
As a result of Patrick's comments, there's liable to be a shortage of carts in his area of the store. I'm not going to tolerate someone speaking to me that way.
