Do NOT fill your prescriptions at Rite Aid

Where to begin? They have recently been pushing this “whole health for life” marketing campaign. Pushing stuff like alternative medicine, vitamins, self-help, self-care, etc. Whatever floats your boat, I guess. But “whole health for life” is NOT how they treat their employees. Far from it. They try to put on a front. They have “Self-Care Fridays” where you can stop by and they will give you tips on well-being, and do some yoga, etc. I have never been able to attend because I work at that time every Friday. I asked to be able to attend these sessions, out of curiosity, and my manager laughed in my face. I was told those are primarily for corporate-level people and not for me. They have nearly doubled our healthcare costs, for the same shitty benefits. They have been extremely anti-union. They are not increasing wages to keep pace with inflation. They promise people promotions and raises that never come. I have multiple documented instances of wage theft and have had to fight with HR and payroll to be paid properly. They constantly lie about help being “on the way” as a way to trick people into working stupidly long hours. For context, I have worked an average of 50 hours per week for the last year, which is not uncommon. I agreed to do this temporarily, until we got more staff. We have not gotten more staff because they do not pay enough. Anybody they do hire quits within two weeks because the stressful work is not worth the terrible pay. The pharmacists constantly screw up because of the overwork, and there have been some very dangerous instances of the wrong medications being dispensed.

I have given my notice and I am on my way out, but just wanted to say, please DO NOT fill your prescriptions or shop at Rite Aid, (or CVS or Walgreens for that matter). Give your business and your money to smaller, independent or family-owned pharmacies, if you have one in your area. They are more likely to have more ethical business practices…AND you are more likely to actually get the correct medication!!!
