My partner’s boss is getting promoted and wanted my partner to take over his role.
My partner has been declining promotions for awhile now because he doesn’t want the headache that comes with it. But with this one, he seriously considered it because he didn’t like the alternative (who he would report to if he didn’t take it).
But then he found out this “promotion” would only come with a 5% increase and no title change. This means he would be at the very top of his salary range and no more room for further increases. His boss’s salary is at least 40% more than that. So his boss was hoping that my partner would do his job for a fraction of the cost! Now he’s mad at my partner like he can’t understand why he doesn’t think this is something amazing that he should have just jumped at.
What’s really going to be a head scratcher for his boss is when he puts in his notice.
