Do you donate money at work?

We are constantly being asked to donate money at my work. In the past month I’ve been asked to donate to two engagement parties, a baby shower, a gift for a soirée, the general fund, a present for a coworker who won an award, a retirement present, and a sick person fund. I decided years ago not to give money to anything that is for someone’s personal life choices (wedding, engagement, baby shower) and I pretty much don’t give any money unless I feel it will affect how I’m perceived at work. My pay is so low already I don’t know how they expect us to always give money back for gifts? I especially think it’s ridiculous to ask us to give money for showers. As someone who chooses to be single and not have kids I don’t think it’s fair that I’m supposed to keep supporting other peoples life…
