I scroll through threads and the comments are always flooded with people advising you to record every interaction you have with x to use it against them, immediately file complaints with HR, find a lawyer and sue your boss, your coworkers are not your friends, never explain why you’re taking a sick day, etc etc. For extreme cases where they actually treat you like garbage hell yea, run and don’t look back. But like is it impossible to have a decent relationship with management? I don’t see an issue with explaining why I need a sick day just on a human to human level. How do you guys manage work relationships while acting like everyone else is a NPC? Some of the advice here feels bizarre and robotic. Maybe biased take because my manager treats us really well. But even in that case I’m sure people would tell me to immediately stop giving them any sort of respect and that it’s all a paycheck at the end of the day. Just wanted to hear what other people have to say about this.
