Does it sound like a trap

Got laid off from Job at independent mechanic shop last Friday. Got a call just now from owners wife that they’d like me to return. This all started cause I asked for a raise to begin with. She said she’d put me back on with $4 less than I asked for(what I asked for is technically minimum wage for mechanics that own their own tools). I politely told her “I have no desire to work for you or your husband ever again “. The thing is I think they caught wind that I’m planning on taking legal action since I’m legally entitled to that wage. I already spoken to a lawyer who informed me I can sue them for multiple violations. I need to work but I just wouldn’t feel comfortable going back to work for them. It would definitely make it easier in the short term to just suck…

The thing is I think they caught wind that I’m planning on taking legal action since I’m legally entitled to that wage. I already spoken to a lawyer who informed me I can sue them for multiple violations. I need to work but I just wouldn’t feel comfortable going back to work for them. It would definitely make it easier in the short term to just suck it up and go back but something feels off like I might be screwing myself. I’m just beyond sick of this. Especially in the mechanic field these shops definitely can afford to pay their people. Being in this field 10+ years I know how much these repairs cost. Sure there’s overhead but car repairs are expensive and it’s a lot of labor. If a business can’t afford to pay their staff a living wage and still be profitable than they shouldn’t be a business. The ones that can and just don’t want to are the ones we should put out of business.
