“The president’s administration will defend the legality of up to $20,000 per borrower in student loan forgiveness in oral arguments in federal court on Oct. 12. The lawsuit is known as Nebraska v. Biden, filed by six conservative state attorneys general. The states—Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and South Carolina—argue that debt cancellation would hurt their revenues as well as the revenues of MOHELA, a student loan servicer based in Missouri. They also say the administration does not have authority under the HEROES Act to forgive the debt, which is the law they are using.”
I've paid off 30k on the debt, and this last bit would wipe it out. I only had 40k in loan. And with a degree, have only ever made poverty wages. I am disabled.
