I posted earlier in the week about the toxic work environment, harassment and bullying in facing. I was written up for the first time in my career, after 2.5 years with the company. I’ve never had a single formal review or even a verbal, above all my KPI’s and was given a salary bump last year.
During my time, I worked outside of my only allowed 40 hours (I’m mid level management – but paid hourly + heavy commission) to create an all inclusive manual on start to finish of our job processes. This was not a direction of my supervisor but “something that could really help out”. It took me weeks to compile and when it was done, I was asked the change it and make it into and index with reference page numbers so it could be printed – and that took another 2 weeks.
I plan on resigning COB Friday because I’m going to refuse to sign the write up with padded notes and to be frank, it’s just not true.
My question is – since I was not paid to compile the manual and/or make edits, does it fall under ‘intellectual properties’ and could I delete or remove the electronic copies of this, which I currently only have access to?
There are printed copies at some offices so they’d still have access to that.
To follow up, I was also given a task above my normal pay grade to compile a list of sales stats and call stats from my area and others and then put it in an excel sheet and graph. I was tasked with this in 01/2021 and until I made a formal complaint (in writing to my VP) I was not paid for anything to do with this and was forced to do it outside if my normal working hours, until 11/2021. Since then, I have been given 1 Hr of overtime each week, when sometimes it can take anywhere from 1 Hr to 2 hrs, depending on the amount of data. Since again, I’m the only one who has access to this, can I remove the pieces for the first 10 months?
