President Biden,
I saw your recent tweet encouraging Congress to act against the interests of US railworkers and the unions that advocate for them.
It is clear, from your own words, that the US economy is utterly dependent on an efficient and functional railway system.
It would follow, then, that railworkers ought to be fairly compensated at a commensurate rate and level.
Why is such a vital industry in the hands of private billionaires? You should be encouraging Congress to act in the best interest of the railworkers, not the interests of the greedy CEOs and administrators in charge of profit-driven railroad companies.
A simple start would be to advocate for unpaid sick leave for all railworkers. The fact that railworkers have not been granted this benefit is sickening.
I do not support any legislation that ends this strike unless railworkers basic needs are met.
I hope to receive a written response from you acknowledging that you understand my position, and that I fully support the railworkers and stand in solidarity with their union and the current strike. Feel free to correct any errors in my thought process.
You cannot claim to be “pro-labor” unless you actually value the laborers over corporate interests. Either stand aside and allow the current negotiations continue, or consider nationalizing the railway industry.
Thank you for reading this, and God bless our troops.
Sincerely,
(Your name and address here)
