First time poster but hear me out. Musk originally threatened that he wanted lay off 50% of Twitter, which there is no way the backers of his buy out would allow. He gets by with a 50% layoff, meanwhile he torches the wfh policy (causes extra attrition via “stealth layoff” as previously pulled by IBM and yahoo pre covid), and drops 5000 contacted positions (those don't count as layoffs 🤦️). All of this added together gets him what he originally wanted, and seemingly no one is talking about this.
I personally think that Musk is making a spectacle of himself on purpose, because he realizes the media will only focus on his antics, and ignore the fact that one of the richest people of all time is saying Twitter might not make payroll, or even go bankrupt. Bankruptcy would be a hell of a way to eliminate some of the 13 billion the company was saddled with as part of his takeover. He is bouncing from scandal to scandal, but ensuring a new firestorm starts before the previous one resolves he escapes accountability because the American attention span is best case 1 news cycle.
I really hope I'm wrong, but it seems like he might be running trumps old playback and getting ready to leverage bankruptcy to his benefit, while completely fucking his workforce.
