The company I work at seems like they don’t have any plans on giving me the raise and promotion that I was hoping for. I feel like this is a super selfish move on their part considering inflation and the fact that they tweaked my job description to accommodate more tasks.
To make ends meet, I’ve decided to take freelance projects on the side while still being employed.
What makes me bitter and anxious about this is that it’s technically against company rules to partake in any kind of consulting or freelance projects unless I get their signed approval (which I obviously don’t want to do).
I’m not the only one taking side projects, I know some of my colleagues do it as well. What’s the worse that could happen?
For the record, even though I plan on taking more side jobs – I don’t like working. But things are so fucking depressing and I need financial relief. My cards are maxed out. I’m turning 30 and I haven’t gone on a fun holiday trip. I can’t afford to pamper myself and my savings are basically nonexistent.
And while I could resign, I can’t afford to just jump ship and try out freelancing in a snap. What if it doesn’t work out for me?
Jesus, I’m tired. Fuck work. Just needed to let that out.
