Employer denied rightfully earned bonus

Hi everyone, first time posting here. Mainly looking for suggestions on how to best deal with this. Before I begin I want to point out that I am from Australia and some of the things might not apply I guess? I am in Finance and have worked my way up to a Lending Manager role within 3.5 Years in one of the top 6 Banks in Australia. Now the company I work for currently is not the absolute worst in some comparisons however there is very toxic mid / high level management that is currently destroying the company, at least in my state. Now my issue begins End of August last year when I was promoted into this position after they had failed to fill the position for 6 months.

On a call with all of the other Managers we were told that bonuses for performance are let’s say 10% & 20% (10% for hitting 100% and 20% for hitting 130% of target). I said cool, that sounds awesome , I’m going to work hard, do unpaid OT and smash my targets.

We have just had a 6 month review from September-Feb and I had hit 138% of my target. Now, on my review I sat down with my managers and they proceeded to belittle me and say that I wasn’t really doing good enough and that I wouldn’t have been able to hit these numbers without my managers “help” so they said okay you should take out this deal of “x Million” and base your score without the x million included. I said okay it’s not fair but fine, it still brings me to a 108%. (Manager did absolute fuck all and got credit).

Couple of months after they have finally completed the reviews, to my surprise I didn’t get a bonus. I enquired about this with current manager (other manager quit, not before throwing me under the bus) and she said I will check. I get a message saying to add up every single thing I’ve done over the past 6 months and they’ll review it. Obviously this is bullshit so I really don’t know how to proceed with this.

Would appreciate any suggestions etc, keeping in mind contract states that bonuses are at discretion. (0 sense)

I am currently looking for another job, out of 11 Lending Managers I am 3rd best so shouldn’t be an issue moving however I’m pissed because was really looking forward to some extra cash.
