Much to my employers surprise, today will be my last day.

My manager has a habit of making inappropriate, near hateful comments and calling it “reclaiming freedom of speech in the workplace”. I'm relatively new to the job, I'd been working here near two months. My role is hybrid, so I'm only in the office two days a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays. I'm relatively new to the job, I'd been working here near two months. My role is hybrid, so I'm only in the office two days a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Today when I came in my manager asked me if I'd actually gotten out of bed yesterday. I told him yes and reminded him we were on a meeting together with an external vendor for nearly 2 hours.

He then told me I “sounded like I was arguing with my bum buddy during the meeting”.

Now, keep in mind I had my camera on during the entire meeting. He's been making jokes like this since he overheard me talking about a date I went on (with another man) in the canteen with a coworker.

I have raised it with HR – who know said manager well – and they told me that's just how he's been for years and he's harmless. They won't even log a formal complaint for me and ignored my emails.

So, today I will be deleting the reports he's had me working on for the past month and never returning. I finish at 7 and then it's bye bye.
