I work for a large movie theater chain in the US, specifically Ohio. Recently our GM made everyone sign a sheet stating that any received tips must be placed into our registers, and we are not allowed to keep them. I know that this would be illegal if we were considered “tipped employees” (FSLA) but we are not. I feel like this is likely illegal regardless, but I'm having trouble finding anything in US or Ohio law with any information on non-tipped employees receiving tips. Anyone have some insight?
