I got hired at my current job a couple of months ago based on the amount of perks that came with it, specifically higher pay and the hybrid schedule.
When I initially interviewed, I was informed that the possibility of WFH was available, but Monday through Wednesday were required in-office days while Thursday and Friday were optional WFH or come into the office. Sweet gig. I don’t expect a lot of companies to have full WFH so I’m glad I was even able to find one that did hybrid.
Today, I received an email from my supervisor that the company was going to start requiring us to come in on MWF as in-office days while Tuesday and Thursday became the optional WFH days. They also added a note that the company would gradually start to require us to be in the office more days, I’m assuming until eventually we are back to a regular M-F i office for all five days schedule.
I guess what I am asking is if it is worth it to fight this change, proceed with looking for a new job that might potentially honor its hybrid schedule or WFH schedule, or just take it on the chin. I know this sub tends to lean towards fighting against employers and standing for workers, but I have heard from a few friends that WFH is actually rarer than I might think. And with my country’s relaxation on COVID restrictions, a lot of jobs will start moving away from WFH regardless. I just want to get a gauge to see if it’s worth it to start actively looking for a new job or to just roll with the punches.
