I was hired on December 16th, 2021 and told my pay would go up at the end of a 6 month probationary period. In January, all employees received a raise, but everyone was asked to “resign to reappoint” in order to get the raise.
Next, they said since I resigned to reappoint in the middle of January 2022, that it reset my six month probation period. So my new probation pay ending date is in July instead of June 2022.
Now they are saying that even though my probationary six months are complete, I won't see a change in my check for July because incremental increases are only done on the first of each month – and my probation ends in the middle of a month (July).
So my pay won't increase until August 1st, 2022. And that won't be reflected on a paycheck until the end of August.
So my 6 month probation that began in December 2021 will have produced 10.5 months of checks at a probationary pay level.
And here's the kicker: my co-worker in the same position was hired December 1, 2021. His pay has went up a whole month before me because his hire date is on the first of the month. Somehow the resign to reappoint that he signed the same day as me did not reset his probation. They refuse to answer me about this. Or explain where there is a policy saying a probation period is reset.
The non-probation employees did not have to have a new probation period.
No mention of resign to reappoint was mentioned when salary was being negotiated and terms were being agreed to.
Bullshit.
