Employer overpay themselves and there is no money for anyone else

Sorry if this is not the best subreddit for this, it was the first place I could think of to ask for advice. This is a throwaway account. Context: Company owner has 2 families from 2 marriages (1 past 1 present). Some years ago, Owner passes away and the families go to court. I've been working for this company for over a year and the new “owner” is always talking about how “we are not making money”. No raises are offered and if you ask for it, you either get a layoff or mobbing. Thing is; I have access to sales, expense and payroll reports and I decided to dig in a little to find out the problem.

Family 2's patriarch has been (and still is) paying themselves almost double the regular hours for years. For any 40 hr. week, this person is writing themselves a cheque for 60-80 hrs. One detail is they are NOT paying themselves overtime for the extra time, just the equivalent of 60-80 hrs. of regular wage.

I decided to leave the company and I am planning to notify Family 1, but I would like to know if this is legal in Canada or not.
