Employer requiring us to go back to the office – if everyone is remote why wouldn’t they off shore us?

Hi- throwaway account since coworkers know me. I’m in customer service and my employer announced we will go back in the office starting two days a week starting in October. I don’t want to and no one else on my team does. But I can’t help thinking that if they kept us all remote forever why wouldn’t they just off-shore. Our job is hard, but realistically could be done by anyone. We don’t talk on the phone too much so I don’t know why anyone couldn’t do it. I think my coworkers would hate me for thinking this. BTW, pay is decent for my area, even above average, and it’s big so supervisor doesn’t bother me. Am I wrong for thinking that going back in is better in the long run?
