I work nights and the job I do is very labour intensive (it's basically repairing the railway). The wage I'm on is absolutely shocking for the work I do, and I seem to be doing more than the people that get paid more than me there.
I'm on an apprentice wage but according to the calendar my apprenticeship should have ended on the 4th March. But now right at the end of it we have been told that we can't get off of this apprenticeship until we complete this maths qualification (I'm terrible at maths and haven't done it in a classroom setting in 10 years)
They're still paying us minimum wage even though we've completed everything else related to the job and it feels like they're stringing this along so they don't have to pay us an “improved rate”
Like I cant survive on the rate that I'm on, I need to move on with my life and get a house. I have been on this rate for over a year now and I live from paycheck to paycheck, often going into my overdraft.
I really need some advice/comfort here, as it's really affecting my mental health and I feel so hopeless.
