So I work at an elementary school as a paraprofessional working with special ed students. The first week or so of every year is incredibly hectic, and I ended up going without a lunch break on 2 of those days. After some cajoling, I was able to get my principal to hand me a time sheet, which she insisted wouldn't be approved anyway. After some back and forth (and some great co-workers having my back), I was able to get the 2 hours.
Fast forward to this past week and I've come down with bronchitis, having to take a few days off. Tried to go back in on Wednesday and almost threw up from a hacking fit, so I ended up going home and taking a few more days off. Today, I get an email from my school principal telling me they've “re-reviewed” my timesheets and are now taking back those hours (which I already have the approval sheet for).
This stuff is so petty it blows my mind. Just this past June they gave me some bs award and told me how important I am to what they do, and now they're bickering about $24 to an employee who gets kicked, spit on, is a mandated reporter, responsible for the safety of hundreds of kids. I even worked as a custodian in the same district years ago and they never gave a shit about extra hours (and in this case it wasn't even overtime).
So I'm writing up my resignation now, effective immediately. Just needed to vent.
