Employer wants to reduce my pay by nearly 10k. Advice please!

Thank you in advance for your help. TLDR: Approved to be permanent remote, company cut pay by nearly 10k “based on geographical location.” Responsibilities will remain the same. Already underpaid considering workload. I have to keep this vague, but hopefully it will be enough information: Employee for a couple years in an expensive area of the US – started in the pandemic as a remote employee, no one is back in the office FT Large company with over 20k employees and (of course) a multi-millionaire at the top Hired for one job, added 2 other (higher paying) jobs without an increase in salary Did not receive a “raise” large enough to even nearly cover inflation Moved to an area with a cost of living not significantly less than the expensive area. Thank you in advance for your help.

TLDR: Approved to be permanent remote, company cut pay by nearly 10k “based on geographical location.” Responsibilities will remain the same. Already underpaid considering workload.

I have to keep this vague, but hopefully it will be enough information:

  • Employee for a couple years in an expensive area of the US – started in the pandemic as a remote employee, no one is back in the office FT
  • Large company with over 20k employees and (of course) a multi-millionaire at the top
  • Hired for one job, added 2 other (higher paying) jobs without an increase in salary
  • Did not receive a “raise” large enough to even nearly cover inflation
  • Moved to an area with a cost of living not significantly less than the expensive area.
  • Rent increased & partner's pay decreased by half (they took a public service job)
  • Received notice that my pay would be cut by nearly 10k “based on geographic location”
  • Want to stay because I genuinely enjoy the work itself and love my direct teammates

I want to fight it. I created an outline for a letter:

  1. gratitude for being part of the team and appreciation for recognizing this as a remote position
  2. working multiple jobs beyond what I was hired for, not receiving pay commensurate to added directives or true expensive area salary standards
  3. cost of living in new location not totally dissimilar to expensive area + higher personal costs
  4. dissonance between communications about company's financial success in meetings then experiencing a feeling of scarcity when it comes to associate pay
  5. antithetical behavior to corporate speak about being a family and caring primarily about associate well-being
  6. importance of my role. explain my worth and contribution to the company and how moving away does not mean I'll suddenly have less responsibilities
  7. another bit of gratitude and express how I value being part of a wonderful team

I appreciate this community so much. You inspired me to even consider fighting for myself in the first place! Please share any insights you may have and thank you again for everything!
