Employers who do not grant reasonable time off requests will lose loyal employees

This is about my husband. I am livid at his boss. I work in tech so I have unlimited PTO. I take far less than I probably should because my husband, who has been at his job 5 years, only gets two weeks off per year. I am pregnant. He has no parental leave but we are in CA and he can get 8 weeks paid at 60% through the state. We wanted to take a final international trip before a pregnant person is not allowed to fly internationally – which is 28 weeks. For me that’s December 19th. We booked a (cancellable) trip to England for our first visit. Husbands busy work period where he works overtime and can not take even 1 day off is Oct 15-Dec 15th. We requested September 23rd-October 6th and he said it’s too close to busy time. My husband feels terrible about this.…

My husband feels terrible about this. I think he’s finally considering leaving due to the inflexibility. I hate these dinosaur philosophy companies. We’ve had 7 days off this year.
