Entitled to professional knowledge

Is it a thing for people to come up to you and say: ” Hey I try to have unofficial meetings with people in this sector, because I know I lack knowledge and I would like to be more involved with current trends, would you have 30-45 minutes to spare?” “Could we have meetings on some Mondays according to your schedule of course, so as to discuss the current situation in this field? Our employee who is a lead in our respective department would love to meet you” On the second one, I did one meeting and then the person who introduced apparently wants more? That's a big company, should I be paid as a consultant? I feel like maybe I'm naive giving away my time and knowledge? If anyone could provide insight, that would be great, thank you.
