Everything has to be done yesterday.

I have a role in my company that kind of rises and falls depending on how busy it is, and for that reason I have some side tasks that I do while I am between tasks in my actual role. Fair enough. I am an employee and get paid by the hour and I should be working those hours. Yesterday though, I did not have a single second for any of those side tasks so did not get any of it done. The boss calls me at the end of the day for a report on how that side task is going and I tell him that I was swamped with other work that he has told me to prioritize. His response “that should have taken you 20 minutes, what the fuck were you doing for the last 8 hours?”. I don't have a play by play of what I…

I don't have a play by play of what I was doing, but I was running full speed ahead all day. But the fact that this busy work (which is what it is really) didn't get done means that my whole day needs to be justified somehow?

Fuck this place.
