Ex company is fighting unemployment.

Backstory: about 8 months prior the same executive threatened me that if they caught wind i was job hunting they can consider that my resignation and i wouldnt get unemployment. And he said “i wouldnt want anything to happen to your family so be careful” i took that to mean me not getting unemployment would hurt my family. I put in my notice at my previous employer. Ive posted about it on other threads. The company was so toxic. Some serious human rights violations level BS. Also some EXTREMELY questionable accounting practices. Anyway, i gave my notice and the next day i was walked out by the executive i gave my notice to. I have no proof but based on his previous threat, he was trying to teach me a lesson. I wasnt starting my new job for 3 weeks so I applied for unemployment. I got a call from unemployment today because the company is fighting my claim because i gave my notice. As im talking to the unemployment guy about this executive and how stuff went down he started laughing and went “this guy is DEAD wrong.” My claim was approved and its another of the many unemployment insurance claims against this company.

EDUCATION: If you are leaving for a BETTER job, and you give notice and are willing to work and they walk to out before your notice, you can file for unemployment. Also, its technically a termination so if there is vacation/benefit/cobra benefits that come from a termination make sure you get them. They had to pay me out $800 in vacation they wouldnt have had to pay me if i stayed through my notice.
