Ex coworker just told me he made 40k more than I do for the same job.

Recently a coworker of mine was let go after almost a year on the job. I have been with this company three years and he just joined in. I helped to train him up some and honestly did most of the work while he was getting up to speed which unfortunately he never really did due to various company factors so was let go. What do I do with this information? I asked 7 months ago for a raise after never receiving one in two years and they finally just got back to me with a 10k raise still 30k less than what my ex coworker was making. Ex coworker told me once he was trained up fully he was told he would be doing the same job as me. I assume because they knew he was getting let go they finally acted on my raise.
