Ex employer called up sobbing and talking about suicide to try and stop me perusing him for money owed + payslips, group certificate, superannuation

As title says Two days ago me old employer rang up after I sent him an email informing him I was going to raise a complaint with the workplace ombudsman in order to force him to fulfil his obligations as an employer. He quickly began a sob story about how he has been struggling mentally and could we please sort this out between us only. I told him at most I'm going to give him (a bit) more than the minimum notice period for giving me what I'm owed, before a case is brought before the workplace ombudsman and tax department. Two days ago me old employer rang up after I sent him an email informing him I was going to raise a complaint with the workplace ombudsman in order to force him to fulfil his obligations as an employer.

He quickly began a sob story about how he has been struggling mentally and could we please sort this out between us only. I told him at most I'm going to give him (a bit) more than the minimum notice period for giving me what I'm owed, before a case is brought before the workplace ombudsman and tax department.

“which you know isn't what I want because my friend that killed himself. And my son and wife”.
While I worked for him he routinely relied on guilt trips and sympathy in order to get away with his bullshit.

I'm not without compassion, I'm all too aware the toll mental health issues take on a person. However it's been well over a year and he has not kept his word a single time, offering only excuses and empty promises.

This man had the audacity to ask staff to work for free, because “times are tough”. Well they're tough for me too. I can't subsidise someone else's failing business. (It's fallen over since I left)

I'm sick to death of shit employers who think their dream of having a business is everyone else's problem, and that people should make concessions on their behalf. Hell the fuck no. I didn't sign up for that. I signed up to earn money, that's it.

I made a post in this sub a while back, it was a screenshot of a conversation I had with him about these very issues. People doubted I'd actually do anything about it.

Well I've quit that job, got a better one and am now in the process of dragging him through official channels to recover the money and paperwork he owes me.
