Ex-employer head-hunts me from a stable job that was aware of and fine with my background to hire me under the table just to turn around and lay me off because someone called the store and gossipped about my background and now I’m employed at neither– right before the Holidays. Merry Christmas.

So get this shit:

I was working at store 1, and they hired me and only paid me 9/hr which oh well, it was a stepping stone to greater things. I've been in jail and prison a few times for various things and they didn't really care cos none of it was theft or anything, just drugs and minor violence.

So I'm there for about 9 months and this fucking cokehead from the store across the highway from the one I'm at comes in BEGGING me to work for him so I send my then unemployed girlfriend who had just quit another job because they didn't give her the pay rise she was promised.

She starts working there and he's like I WANT BOTH OF YOU TO WORK FOR ME YOU GUYS MAKE A GREAT TEAM YOU'RE BOTH SO DEDICATED TO EACH OTHER AND GREATNESS FOLLOWS GREATNESS blah blah blah blowing smoke up my ass. He offers us BOTH 10 an hour for a brief training then 12 an hour.

So I'm like cool whatever, more money, but he hires me with the caveat that I'm not supposed to be working there with felonies but it's cool bro, I just won't tell corporate etc etc I doubt they'll ever look into it it's fine I've done it before blah blah blah. I'm sketched out but a pay rise is a pay rise, I'll keep my door open at the other store just in case.

Door closes at the other store, they find a replacement for me, and then a few months later I get arrested on a bullshit warrant from an issue from a year ago. Bond out, got court in a couple months NBD it's a misdemeanor. Boss is like oh well whatever I'll just tell them you went to the hospital.

Someone in town (and I frankly suspect it was the GM herself) calls the store and tells the other employees all about my criminal background including my most recent misdemeanor arrest, ZOMG HE HAD A FELONY DRUG CHARGE AND TWO ASSAULTS TEN YEARS AGO!!!

So then this motherfucker fires me tells me I can't come back not now that everyone knows, and now I have NEITHER JOB.

So Merry fucking Christmas to me, I have a bond to pay off the rest of the way and no fucking job. I don't think I qualify for unemployment either because I was unemployed until not even a year ago for a couple of months. So great now I can't even afford to get my kids a Christmas gift (which is cool I guess cos my GF already did that for me and spent quite a bit and we share a bank account so whatever).

I can see why people get suicidal around the holidays now.
