On August 1st, I was terminated from a customer service work-from-home job. By email, they told me that they would give an address where I would be expected to drop off their computer.
I replied, by email, that I refuse to spend my time and money delivering their computer, and that they can either send for a prepaid courier to pick it up, or they can mail me an empty box with bubble wrap and prepaid postage.
A week later, they replied that they would send me prepaid postage but that I would have to supply the box and bubble wrap. To this, I replied that, due to my sudden termination and lack of income source, I cannot afford a box and bubble wrap and that they would need to supply these items as well.
Now they're threatening legal action.
Funny, right?
I know they have no case; our conversations are documented via email and I am willing to return equipment. I also know that it would be more expensive for them to throw a frivolous lawsuit at me than it would be to pay for FedEx to pick up the computer from my address.
I haven't responded to their most recent email threatening legal action. What is the appropriate response?
