Expectation to get back to work while sick

I don’t like being at work when I’m sick, especially now. I’ve never once worked somewhere where they allowed you to actually recover before returning. The expectation is to use a couple days to rest and then come back even if you’re still unwell. Both of my ears are plugged and I still am struggling to breathe after an upper respiratory infection and ear infection. It’s been almost 2 weeks. I work with the public, face to face and just can’t do it while I’m in this condition. I called in today again. I’m gonna guess I’ll end up losing this job but I’m just not going into work with the public when it sounds like I’m breathing out my ears and I’m hacking loads of mucus up. What bothers me is my coworkers would probably come in even in my condition and just “suck it up”… and I’m made…
