Exploited by Anthropologie in San Antonio

This was nearly a decade ago by now, but in 2013 I got a job at the Anthropologie store in San Antonio. I was young and in college so I was stoked to get a “cool” retail job somewhere where I would be able to get a sizeable discount on some clothes and save some cash for school. They kept calling me Emily the whole time I worked there (not even CLOSE to my name) because they hired me at the same time they hired a girl named Emily. Kinda shitty, but the worst part was that at the end of the day they required every single item in the store to be folded and “fluffed.” If the store ran out of hours they were able to pay people for their work they would literally have us clock out and then continue working, telling us it was OUR fault for…

Kinda shitty, but the worst part was that at the end of the day they required every single item in the store to be folded and “fluffed.” If the store ran out of hours they were able to pay people for their work they would literally have us clock out and then continue working, telling us it was OUR fault for not doing our work fast enough. I was only 19 and not versed at all in my rights, and I guarantee they relied on that being the case for all their employees.

I'm happy to out them now as a horrible company with horrible ethics. Wish I'd spoken up sooner. Literally breaking the law just so some pants get zipped.
