Antiwork

Feeling horrible for wanting to quit before starting.

Right now I’m pilled high on university clubs, research labs and classes. I requested to work 15 hours a week 3-4 days a week during my interview. Just checking looking at my schedule before I even officially start I work 3pm-12am and 5pm-close most nights (college town bar. Working until close at the last bar I worked at I got off at 3am-4am). My clubs I’m in (leadership positions) and research in labs are far more important to me than this job especially for grad school aspects, I have family members who are more than helpful with rent money. I plan to stick it out one day, perhaps, at least with training. I’m not too sure how to reach out them before I even started to explain to them I don’t see this schedule fitting in well with all I have to do. I honestly feel like a bad person…

I’m not too sure how to reach out them before I even started to explain to them I don’t see this schedule fitting in well with all I have to do. I honestly feel like a bad person (lots of anxiety over letting people down throughout my life) for telling them “yo, I got more important things to do” (in a more professional matter of course) before I even begin training. I’ll be a line cook making around 11$ hr.

Edit: quickly glancing over Glassdoor reviews all I see are compliments of being “over scheduled”, not offering shorter shifts and getting off at 4am when working until close.
