Feeling Vindicated

I left a job last year because I found something that paid above minimum wage, gave me fully flexible hours, and let me get into an industry I've wanted to get into for a while. I was so happy to leave because the place I worked had MAJORLY bad vibes about it. The managerial team was really vigilant and micromanaged the shit out of everyone. I was once reprimanded for being late on my first day, because no one had told me how to get into the building. They also loved to remind everyone that they had cameras everywhere, and that they checked them frequently.

This new guy starts at my new place of work and we're chatting about previous jobs and he mentions that he worked at my old work place, and so I'm naturally interested to hear about what he thought of it and his experience there. He was let go for apparently not being enthusiastic about his work, and not having the right attitude, which seems like a very likely thing knowing the management team. I then asked about co-workers I hadn't seen since I left, when asked about one specific co-worker he mentioned she'd also been let go for the UNFORGIVABLE CRIME, of taking one pump of vanilla syrup from the coffee bar for her coffee, and not paying for it. Apparently this was also the first and only time she'd done this.

It was nice to hear that I wasn't crazy for finding the vibes and atmosphere of the place crazy, and that someone else had a similarly awful experience there, when you're in a situation like that it's easy to feel you're the weird one for not liking it because everyone else seems okay under the pressure. It's nice to know I wasn't alone in it.
