I'm an electrician working for a big company. And it's the usual story… low wages, perks being taken away from us, spoke down to by managers, so on and so on.
Finally had enough of someone profiting off my hard work and getting zero credit, so I'm going solo. There is so much work available out there and I will be able to get credit for all the work and keep all the profit and will hopefully be able to provide a better life for my family.
I've been told my whole apprenticeship that I'm going to be on “big wages” when I'm qualified, that was one year ago. Now with the cost of living sky rocketing, my “big wages” are no longer very big… ask for a pay rise and you get laughed at. Tell them you are struggling to buy food, you get laughed at. Tell them you are leaving? They act all surprised…
Seriously, fuck working for the big guy
