My office is me and 3 other people (including my boss) so when we first started remote work, we'd have a rotating schedule of 1-2 partial in office days. In 2021, we transitioned into more full in office days, with 1 work from home day, and I was given 1/2 days on Friday, meaning I'd work from home Friday afternoon.
Well, one of my 3 coworkers is out this week, so my boss scheduled me for a full day on Friday. In the past, if I was scheduled until 5 on a Friday, he'd tell me it was likely an error and I could go home. I emailed today to confirm my schedule, and not only am I in the office all day today, my 1/2 day Fridays are likely gone forever.
In the email, he said what the title says. I know I sound like a princess, but I really loved that Friday half day. I'd do some pre weekend errands on the way home before everywhere was packed. I'd get to take my dog out the second it hit 5, so we could enjoy as much sunlight as possible. I would generally take care of all my need to do items before I left, so the afternoon is just getting ahead on things, and replying to people as it comes up. But now? I guess I'll just scroll around in the mornings and then get to whatever needs doing when I get to it.
This is a big demotivator for me and this office has slowly been decreasing the elements I've enjoyed while adding work I dislike. I've already started looking elsewhere, but I'm really struggling to find anything that I'm qualified for and pays decently, without having me take calls from the public. I know a lot of other people have it worse, but this is just a bummer way to end the week :/
